Bio
Clients reach out to Michael Robson to assist with contemplated and ongoing litigation. He provides strategic advice and representation to clients across a broad range of sectors, working with multi-national corporations, small businesses, and individuals to craft practical and creative solutions throughout all stages of the civil litigation process.
Michael represents and advises clients on a wide variety of commercial disputes including shareholder and partnership disputes, professional negligence, real estate disputes, and media and defamation matters. He also acts on urgent matters involving fraud, including successfully obtaining extraordinary relief such as Mareva orders. He has appeared before all levels of court in Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and appears regularly before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. He also acts in commercial arbitration and mediation, where a matter is better settled away from a courtroom.
Clients value Michael's considered and collaborative approach to litigation in what is often the highest stakes moment in their business or life. Before law, Michael worked closely with small family businesses at a chamber of commerce and understands the importance and impact that litigation can have for owners, shareholders, and stakeholders. His calm, tailored advice steadies a client through what is otherwise a tumultuous process.
Michael volunteers with the Pro Bono Ontario legal hotline and advises journalists on legal matters. When he is not in the office, Michael can be found running, sailing, playing hockey with friends, or experimenting with new recipes and cuisines.
