Print Bio

Ishmeet comes from a family of lawyers. He decided to build his career from the ground up in Canada and brings that drive, and the eye of someone who has run a business of his own, to the disputes he handles now.

He works most often in bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring, construction and real estate, and lending disputes. He starts each matter by getting to the root of the dispute and the separate issues around it. From there he finds the most direct, practical route through, and a creative one when the case calls for it. He acts mostly for owner-managed businesses and individuals, getting involved when a transaction has run into trouble, helping give the client a clear read on where they stand and a plan to set it right.

He appears in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, where much of his day-to-day work is the drafting and groundwork that keep a contested matter moving. Recently, that has meant preparing the documents that drove a mortgage enforcement, alongside a range of construction, insolvency, and commercial disputes.

Clients can rely on Ishmeet to put his all into any matter he’s working on. He digs into the details, presses for the best outcome he can get them, and treats a client’s problem as if it were his own. For someone who built his career from a standing start in a new country, hard work is not a selling point. It is simply how he has always worked.

Outside the office, Ishmeet is a keen sportsman who plays cricket, baseball, badminton, and golf, and an enthusiastic cook drawn to fusion cooking and to restaurants where the craft shows. He travels to live like a local, and does some of his best thinking on late-night drives.
