Bio
As a Partner in the Commercial Real Estate and Development Group and the Affordable and Social Housing Group , Rachel provides advice on all primary areas of commercial real estate law, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, and financing. Rachel represents a large variety of clients on commercial transactions, development projects, and housing transactions, earning a reputation as a trusted advisor throughout all stages of acquisition and development projects.
Rachel skillfully represents developers with their new home developments (both condominium and subdivision projects) and assists her clients in navigating the complex challenges that the real estate industry faces today. Rachel advises on development projects from start to finish. This goes from buying the land (whether vacant, or existing residential or commercial properties), financing the land, working through the development process and condominium or subdivision processes and documentation, and eventually, selling the lands (whether to home buyers or otherwise, when the time comes).
Rachel also advises clients in the housing industry on acquisitions, development, and public and private funding arrangements. She has become one of Toronto’s foremost experts in the implementation of the City’s Multi-Unit Residential Acquisition Program (MURA), representing non-profits seeking to acquire multi-unit buildings to secure them as permanently affordable non-profit rental housing.
Prior to law school, Rachel earned a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree from Queen’s University in 2015. Rachel received her J.D. from the University of Toronto Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019.
Outside of the office, Rachel is passionate about travelling and being immersed in different cultures, having lived abroad a number of times: in Italy, England and Hong Kong, and continuing her travels when the opportunities arise.
