SUMMARY OF JULY 1ST CHANGES TO ONTARIO'S CONSTRUCTION LIEN ACT

Phase 1 Amendments in Force as of July 1, 2018

On July 1, 2018, the first set of amendments to the Construction Lien Act,

referred to as the "Modernization Provisions" came into force. This note key

amendments to the Act. In addition to changing the title of the Act to the

Construction Act, the Modernization Provisions affect the timelines of liens,

holdback provisions, and change certain rules relating to public-private

partnerships. Note that this document is intended for readers with a

working knowledge of the Act.
